12 Week Ultrasound

The belly has arrived! I also bought my first pair of maternity jeans and am SO much more comfortable! They are amazing!

We had our 12 week check-up last week and everything is looking great!! Baby was measuring 3 inches long, had a heart rate of 170 bpm, and put on a show for Mom and Dad!
Baby is kicking one of it's legs in this one!

When we first got to the ultrasound room we saw our favorite tech. She's the one we had on our last visit and is really sweet as well as informative. They had just gotten a new machine the day before we had our appt. so we got to watch the baby a little longer while she fiddled around a bit! When she got started and brought the baby on the screen, baby was laying down so we could see it's profile. Then a second later it decided to become a gymnast and flip completely on it's head, stay there for a while wiggling around, then flipped back to a profile view. It stayed in that position for about 5 minutes or so, allowing the tech to get all of the measurements that she needed to send off for chromosomal testing. She pointed out baby's features and it was incredible to see how developed the face is at only 3 inches big! It's little nose, eyes, and mouth are all looking adorable. It was kicking up a storm and we could see legs flying all over the place throughout the whole thing. For the most part it kept it's hands tucked up near the face but once it stretched the right hand up nice and straight and we could see the arm bones and all 5 little tiny fingers! It was really neat and I'd like to think that was baby's way of saying "hi" to us!

You can kind of see it's hand under it's chin here.
There's that foot again!

Then the exciting part happened- Graham asked if there was any way she could tell what it was this early on. I had read some techs can, but most often they won't tell you because they don't want to give false information. However, our tech was great and I think since I told her she was our favorite at the beginning of the appointment she was extra sweet and told us what she thought the baby was. We were both thrilled when she told us and can't wait to tell our families at Thanksgiving what she said it was!

After the ultrasound we met with Dr. Lingle. He's the head of the practice and so far has been my favorite Dr. we've met with. He was funny, talked us through things, listened to the baby's heart rate again, and basically told us everything looked great and that I should continue to have a healthy pregnancy. We did decide to do the blood test to check for chromosomal disorders and Dr. Lingle called with the results on Friday that they all came back normal and we have a very, very, low percentage of anything being wrong with Baby Daugherty!

Aside from the appointment, we have been busy getting our Christmas lights up outside, hosted Friendsgiving last weekend, celebrated Hudson's (little guy I nanny) first Birthday two weeks ago, and getting ready for the holidays! I want to put our tree up this weekend and think I have a good chance of that happening since it's supposed to start getting colder and crappy out. Bring on the Michael Buble Holiday music!!

Just had to include this funny pic from Friendsgiving.

We have been so lucky and blessed so far with this pregnancy and not a day has gone by that we aren't grateful for being chosen to be parents to this little one. We know all of our friends and family have been behind us and can't tell you how much that means to us! The holiday season brings out the "warm fuzzies" and I certainly feel like we have been given a gift that can never be topped.
